IV nutrient therapy made it to the Style section of the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/25/style/iv-drips-touted-as-hangover-relief.html?_r=0
They even took a photo of yours truly (Dr. Fischer) administering an IV. It seems IV therapy is currently in vogue in some circles, and has gotten a bit of publicity. In the article, you’ll see they don’t go into the use of IV nutrient therapy for much other than hangover relief. This is unfortunate, of course, since it is beneficial for so much more.
I owe a lot to my naturopathic doctor mentors, who have imparted their collective experience using IV therapy for everything from atherosclerosis and heart disease to multiple sclerosis, from chronic fatigue syndrome to cancer, from hepatitis to anxiety. Not to mention its obvious benefit in any condition with decreased digestive/absorption abilities.
IV therapy has been a truly transformative therapy in untold numbers of patients of naturopathic and other integrative medical doctors. At times it has been the key therapy, and at others it has been one important building block, among others, within the greater treatment plan. I have had the great pleasure of seeing chronically ill patients take great strides thanks to targeted intravenous nutrient therapy.
There is at present a great deal of positive clinical experience on IV therapies, and a more limited amount of large-scale research, supporting the use of various IV nutrient formulations for specific diseases. We continue to expand our knowledge base regarding the benefits, indications, and efficacy of IV therapies.
In case you were wondering, at the time of the writing of this article, I have yet to perform an IV specifically for hangover relief. Not that I wouldn’t do so. I’m just much more interested in devoting my time and marketing efforts to the treatment of chronic disease and helping people to change the underlying causes of chronic illness, and maximizing health and wellness.
I’m Dr. Jeremy Fischer and I practice integrative medicine in Los Angeles, including the areas of Beverly Hills, Burbank, Encino, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Van Nuys.
In good health,
Dr. Fischer
